Intro to Sailing
Schedule
Section A: Monday and Friday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Section B: Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
This class is the first introduction to sailing for our youngest sailors. The focus is on fun and enjoyment on the water, always with safety in mind, in a group setting.
Sailors learn basic sailing skills using Optimists and Lightnings.
Prerequisites
Ages 7–10. No prior sailing experience required.

Opti Beginners
Schedule
Section A: Monday and Friday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Section B: Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
This class is for sailors who have completed Intro to Sailing or who are over age 10. Sailors learn the basics of rigging, sailing fundamentals, and knot tying. Sailors will sail Optimist boats.
Prerequisites
Ages 9–15 who have completed Intro to Sailing, or age 10 and older with no prior sailing experience.

Adventure Sailing
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
A class for sailors who love being on the water but are not interested in racing. Sailors learn to skipper and steer different types of boats, tie knots, rig and de-rig, and dock their boats. Activities may include sailing, swimming, eating on the water, and other fun sailing experiences.
Boats used include Lightnings, ILCA, and 420.
Prerequisites
Ages 12 and up, any sailing level.

Introduction to 420 and ILCA
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Sailors learn to sail 420 and ILCA boats. Instruction includes all points of sail, proper rigging, skippering and crewing a 420, and skippering an ILCA. Introductory racing elements are included.
Prerequisites
Ages 13 and up
Minimum height 5 feet 5 inches
Minimum weight 115 pounds
Summer Travel Race Teams
NEW - Opti Green Fleet and Opti Race Team
Training at SCC
Monday, Thursday, Friday
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
CNY Circuit Regattas
All day Tuesday or Wednesday at host clubs for racers ready to travel.
An introduction to racing for Optimist sailors with opportunities to travel to local regattas. This mixed-level class may be subdivided based on weather conditions and skill levels. Additional fun sail opportunities are included throughout the summer.
When registering, please select either Green Fleet or RWB Race Team.
Prerequisites
Age 15 and under
Under 115 pounds and under 5 feet 2 inches
Completion of an intermediate Opti class or ability to meet all sailing prerequisites
SCC 420 and ILCA Race Team
Training at SCC
Monday, Thursday, Friday
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
CNY Circuit Regattas
All day Tuesday or Wednesday at host clubs for advanced racers
Additional regattas including Centrals, Junior Canadians, Ams, and RYC Junior Olympic are optional add-ons and highly encouraged for travel racers.
Racers will sail 420 boats including spinnaker and white sail, and ILCA 6 and ILCA 7.
Prerequisites
Ages 13 and up
Weight and height requirements must be met.
*Completion of an intermediate sailing class and ability to meet all sailing prerequisites
