About Skaneateles Country Club

The Waterfront

In the early years, the membership of the originally named “Skaneateles Yacht and Country Club” was comprised primarily of Syracuse residents who owned summer residences along the lake. From those early years through the Great Depression of 1929, sailing was the major recreational activity at the Club.

With over 2000 feet of lakefront, Skaneateles Country Club is still a sailor’s dream and offers spectacular lakeside picnic areas and a supervised swim area. The Club also offers a wide host of boating and sailing amenities, including 80 boat slips, 65 moorings, launching and hoist facilities, and harbormaster services.

A fully staffed Sail School is offered to younger members and adults during six summer weeks using Club owned sailboats. Sailboat racing enthusiasts may participate in a season-long race series or periodic regattas hosted by the Club. For younger members who are not interested in boating activities, the Club offers a six-week day camp on the waterfront grounds.
