About Skaneateles Country Club
History
During the teens and twenties, golf had only a marginal following. The nine-hole course was attractive enough and adequately maintained, but the game was relatively new and not well appreciated. In the thirties, a significant number of new families moved into the village. Many brought with them an interest in golf that had been acquired elsewhere. All of newcomers immediately applied for membership and had a positive influence on the course, bringing about many improvements. It was not until 1963 that the club purchased and built was is now the outside nine, creating an eighteen-hole course.
